ABOUT US

Founded by JUDr. Jan Brož and JUDr. Tomáš Sokol in 1992, the law firm's original name was Brož & Sokol. Its name was changed to Brož & Sokol & Novák in 1999, when JUDr. Jiří Novák became the third partner.

OUR OFFICE

Since its inception, the law firm has had its seat in Prague 2, Sokolská St. As the business had grown, the firm had expanded to offer its clients comprehensive legal assistance in all aspects of law, which resulted in establishing additional offices. Apart from the Prague office, there are other two offices in Přerov and Litoměřice.

Currently there are more than 30 lawyers within Brož & Sokol & Novák law firm, 18 of which are attorneys-at-law and, together with them, a total of approximately 100 persons participating in the firm's operation.

Being registered also with the Slovak Bar Association enables the firm's partners to provide the widest possible span of legal services even in Slovakia. For optimal accessibility to our clients, we have established an office in Bratislava.

LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR 2010

Brož & Sokol & Novák confirmed its position in maintaining services to the highest standards when it was awarded the „Law firm of the year“ in 2010 within the frame of criminal law.

OUR FEES

We apply permitted forms of payment. Most commonly we use an hourly rate, but we also charge other types of fees such as a lump fee, non-contractual fee and a fee with share on object value, and combined fees.

Our hourly rates range from CZK 1,500 to CZK 5,000 (for foreign clients USD/EUR at valid exchange rate).

Individual fees are calculated with regard to specific requirements of the provided legal service such as its factual and legal complexity, possible application of foreign language or law, whether permanent representation for all matters or only representation in individual cases is required, whether legal assistance will be provided within the attorney's seat or externally, whether team work is required, etc. The fee is however always negotiated with the client, and prior to the actual provision of legal assistance, except for urgent cases when immediate intervention is necessary. It is our policy that the client learns the sum to be paid and the scope of service to be provided in advance.

All our fees shall be amended by cash expenses incurred and VAT in the applicable rate.

Such a defined fee enables us to determine further contingent rates for possible time loss during individual acts of legal assistance, or for administration activities which are not defined as legal assistance but are fundamental for completion of a respective case (in cases when application of such activities and their professional demandingness would not correspond with a respective hourly rate). The client is always informed on a regular basis about the actual progress of his case and about the respective activities performed in behalf of the client.

A legal assistance required by the client is determined on a contractual basis, with specification of the fee type and its amount. Generally we require a deposit payment for intended legal assistance.

THE NEW TOWN LAW OFFICES ASSOCIATION

Brož & Sokol & Novák cooperates closely with other law firms within a free association "The New Town Law Offices Association" (Novoměstské advokátní kanceláře), which apart from Brož & Sokol & Novák associates the law firm Mikš & Suk seated in Prague 2, Na Slupi 15, and Pejchal, Nespala & spol., seated in Prague 2, Vyšehradská 21.

Mutual cooperation among the above law firms, developing since the early 1990s, facilitates collective representation of clients, whose requirements for legal assistance necessitate a larger number of lawyers to be involved in the case. The association disposes of approximately 50 lawyers in total.

Cooperation within the association further offers solution in cases of possible collisions of clients' interests. In such cases, we can offer our client legal assistance of one of our associated law firms, with a guarantee of top quality.
